Employees are protected from unfair treatment or dismissal by an employer in relation to performing of certain health and safety functions or duties. Most of the Act is not directly relevant to management of health and safety.

Amendment

Section 152 and Schedule 12 of the Employment Rights Act 2025 (a previous update), which increase the time limit for making claims in employment tribunals from 3 to 6 months, come into force on 1st October 2026.
