Mini Summary

  • The Conservation of Habitats and Species Regulations 2017 implement Directive 92/43/EEC on the conservation of natural habitats and of wild fauna and flora and Directive 2009/147/EC on the conservation of wild birds. They ensure that the special areas of conservation, habitats and natural species are protected.
  • The Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 creates measures to protect animal and plant species in the United Kingdom (UK), as well as making provisions to protect habitats requiring specific protection, including sites of special scientific interest (SSSI), national nature reserves, wetlands and National Parks.

Amendment

Charges for various licences are updated. A list of licences and associated costs can be found in Schedule 1.

 

Exemptions to charges can be found in Article 4.

 

The Wildlife Licence Charges (England) Order 2018 (a previous update) is revoked.
