Various duties apply and are available to view on the Legislation Update Service.

Amendment

Assimilated Regulation 649/2021 is updated so that the same conditions apply for the import and export of all chemicals which required prior informed consent (PIC). The requirements to comply with additional conditions when importing specific chemicals or obtaining a special reference identification number for export declarations are removed.

Assimilated Regulation 528/2012 is updated allowing biocidal products to remain on the market in Great Britain until 31st July 2031 where an application for renewal of approval has been received by the HSE, but decisions have not been made before the expiry date of the approval. The HSE can also now authorise essential biocidal products to remain on the market where danger to public, animal or environmental health cannot be contained by means other than biocide use.

Assimilated Regulation 1272/2008 updates the procedure for mandatory classification and labelling of substances and mixtures to allow the HSE to fast-track approvals where another country has applied the Globally Harmonised System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals (GHS) in a similar way to the UK.
