Major changes to waste exemptions in England are expected from January 2027. If your organisation holds one or more registered waste exemptions, join one of our Key Changes to Waste Exemptions courses to understand what is changing and what you need to do.
The waste exemptions system in England is being reformed, with the changes now expected to come into force from 6th January 2027. Most exemptions are affected in some way. Three exemptions are being withdrawn completely, and several others will have much tighter conditions. New rules will apply where exemptions sit alongside a permitted site, or where more than one exemption is registered at the same location.
Some changes will apply as soon as the new rules come into force and others will be phased in through transition periods of 3, 6 or 12 months. For many organisations, this means acting before the deadlines arrive, either by reviewing current exemptions, adjusting operations, or applying for an environmental permit.
This interactive course has been developed by our team of expert consultants to guide you through the reforms. It gives practical advice to help you work out which changes affect your organisation, when they apply, and how to prepare.
Our consultants are qualified online trainers and have designed the course for remote delivery, so it fits easily into a busy schedule.

This includes environmental, site and compliance managers working in the waste industry, agriculture, construction, the water industry, local authorities, charities and other businesses.
The course covers exemptions registered in England. Delegates should have a basic understanding of waste exemptions and how they are registered.
Please note that this course is subject to the waste exemption reforms being approved by Parliament and coming into force on 6 January 2027, as currently planned by the Environment Agency; if the legislation is delayed or changed, we may need to postpone the course.
The trainer was very knowledgeable and delivered the course in a relaxed and easy to understand way, answering questions along the way. This was a great course for anyone currently involved in waste management to gain a clearer understanding of the requirements.
The Compliance People simplify the most complicated of subjects. Their knowledge is exceptional and the trainer was very polite and friendly. You feel comfortable to ask what you think is a silly question.
The trainer was very knowledgeable on the topic they were delivering. They made sure everyone understood and made a conscious effort to speak to everyone throughout the training. I would highly recommend this course.
I didn’t know much about waste before completing this training course. The trainer has really opened my eyes and developed my knowledge on the subject.
