Overview
Greencore is a leading producer of convenience foods, operating a number of cutting-edge food manufacturing and distribution facilities across the UK. The company has identified its material environment social and governance impacts and manages them through its sustainability plan and integrated SHE Management system iSHEMS.
How we supported the Greencore
Our team of consultants worked with Greencore’s manufacturing sites across the country to establish a baseline of environmental legal compliance at a site and Group level. Current business activities and facilities were reviewed and a bespoke environment legal register containing all relevant legislation developed for each facility using Legislation Update Service (LUS).
Outcome
A thorough evaluation of compliance (audit) against all the relevant legislation contained within the legal register was conducted at each facility, assessing activities, documents and records for compliance. Actions were then set to improve and exceed Greencore’s environmental compliance and performance, furthering the aims of the materiality assessment and supporting one of the Company’s core stated policy aims – to reduce its impact on the planet.
The Compliance People were a great help in supporting us to set up and manage legal registers for both environment and health & safety. This ensured that we were compliant with EHS Law, but also closed out non-conformance actions from our corporate audit and ISO 14001 audit, helping us to maintain our ISO 14001 accreditation.
