Location: Home based, with regular travel and overnight stays required throughout the UK and Ireland.
Salary: £55,983 – £69,340 (depending on experience) + 10% pension contribution

If so, we have an exciting opportunity for an Environmental Consultant to join our team. You will use your knowledge and experience to support our clients with legal compliance.
The Team
Our External Consultancy team is a key part of our business, made up of experienced EHS and management systems professionals. We take pride in delivering quality consultancy services to our enviable list of private and public sector clients across a diverse range of sectors.
The focus of the team is to support our clients to comply with their legal and management system requirements, as well as developing and expanding our training programme. In doing this, a typical week could include a combination of the following activities:
- Developing and delivering a training course, workshop or webinar.
- Carrying out an environmental legal compliance audit at a client site.
- Supporting a client to implement or maintain an environmental management system.
- Developing tenders or proposals to win work.
- Undertaking CPD.
- Supporting and mentoring trainee consultants.
The Role
This role is client-facing and involves delivering environmental legal compliance audits, environmental support services and delivering training relating to environmental legislation and compliance.
We are looking for someone with demonstrable environmental experience. You may have delivered environmental consultancy, training, or anything else in this field that has given you exposure to the world of compliance with environmental legislation and an understanding of what organisations need to do to meet their legal duties.
Key responsibilities
- To deliver environmental consultancy and training services to commercial clients.
- To identify and develop commercial opportunities.
- To develop and maintain working relationships with clients.
- To actively engage in CPD to further personal and professional development as a consultant.
- Provide mentoring, support and guidance to other consultants and relevant roles within The Compliance People team.
We’d like to hear from you if you have:
- Significant experience of environmental legislation and / or management systems (e.g. ISO 14001), spanning a range of business sectors.
- Familiarity with the duties for organisations required by key pieces of environmental legislation.
- Experience of working in the field of environmental consultancy services, or in a role responsible for environmental compliance.
- Experience of developing and delivering training in different formats.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to explain relevant and often complex issues to a range of audiences.
Qualifications
- Degree-level qualification in an environment related subject, or equivalent experience.
- Member of relevant industry body, e.g. IEMA; having achieved or working towards chartership status.
- Full driving licence and the use of own vehicle with insurance for business use, to undertake travel as required (essential).
