Social Value in Action: Community Support at Elland Hub

As a social enterprise, all profits made by The Compliance People are gift-aided to our charity Newground Together.  Newground Together work from a space in the centre of Elland community hub in the heart of Elland town, supporting local communities through a range of weekly activities such as a youth club every Tuesday and an energy/cost of living workshop on Thursdays. Starting next week, Mondays will be open for the Calderdale youth employment hub – where Newground will offer support to young people aged 16-24 to get back into work or training, in partnership with the DWP.

As the charity is at the core of our purpose here at The Compliance People, we aim to organise frequent staff volunteer days where we can be directly involved in the work you’re helping to make possible. Recently, several colleagues visited the Elland Hub.

Here’s what their day looked like:

The team’s day began by taking part in the ‘Greener, Cheaper, Cleaner’ club where they learned how to make natural cleaning products using eco-friendly, cost-effective materials and ingredients. Next, the team attended Elland hub’. Thursday ‘Luncheon club’ – a welcoming space for the community to come together, engage, support and connect with others over low-cost, good-quality food. The Luncheon club is also a great opportunity to find out more about Elland hub’s other events and services

Recently, Elland Hub secured some funding to help develop their community garden and are always keen for volunteers to get involved and help transform the outdoor space into an area the community can enjoy.  To help support this initiative, the team headed outdoors and put their green fingers to the test with some gardening to help work on improving the space.
