Growing Together: How Offshoots is nurturing nature and community

Every month we share how our parent charity, Newground Together, is helping people and places to thrive. This time, we’re focusing on Offshoots, a permaculture project in Burnley that has been bringing people closer to nature for more than 20 years.

Offshoots began in the old kitchen gardens of Towneley Hall. The idea was simple: create a space where people, including those with disabilities, could garden, learn new skills, and enjoy being outdoors.

In this short film, volunteer June talks about her time at Offshoots, from planting seeds and protecting crops to watching children discover the joy of being in nature. She shares how the project brings people together and why caring for the environment matters to every generation.

Thanks to Newground Together, projects like Offshoots continue to flourish. Their work helps local people build skills, confidence, and a stronger connection with the natural world.

At The Compliance People, we’re proud that 100% of our profits are donated to Newground Together. Your support helps fund projects like this one and keeps communities growing.
