Assimilated Regulation 1005/2009 on substances that deplete the ozone layer introduces rules on the production, import, export, placing on the market, use, recovery, recycling, reclamation and destruction of substances that deplete the ozone layer.

Amendment
End dates are updated to extend the allowed use of halon 1211* in portable fire extinguishers for the protection of cabins and crew in specified Defence and Loganair aircraft.
*Halon 1211 is used in fire extinguishers, especially for objects which may be damaged by residues of other extinguishers.
The new end dates are:
- 30th June 2027 for Defence aircraft in Table 1 of Schedule 1;
- 31st December 2040 for Defence aircraft in Table 2 of Schedule 1; and
- 31st December 2026 for Loganair aircraft.
