Duties
There are no direct compliance duties for organisations under this Act, however secondary legislation may be introduced under the Act establishing duties for organisations.
Amendment
The following sections come into force on 1st August 2025:
- section 1 (circular economy strategy);
- section 2 (consultation on strategy);
- section 3 (publication and laying of strategy);
- section 4 (review of strategy);
- section 5 (reporting on strategy);
- section 6 (circular economy targets);
- section 7 (circular economy targets: monitoring and reporting);
- section 8 (circular economy targets: pre-laying procedure for first regulations);
- section 9 (restrictions on the disposal of unsold consumer goods);
- section 12 (removal of unlawfully deposited waste) (for the purpose of making regulations only);
- section 14 (householder’s duty of care) (for the purpose of making regulations only);
- section 15 (household waste requirements) (for the purpose of making regulations only);
- section 18 (littering from a vehicle) (for the purpose of making regulations only);
- section 19 (powers to search and seize vehicles, etc.) (for the purpose of making regulations only); and
- section 22 (duty to make information publicly available) (for the purpose of making regulations only).
